Summer Camp 2019 - Urban Farm to Table

Picture
How does a garden become a meal? Anyone who has tasted a sun ripened strawberry, a fresh snap pea or carrot straight from the garden, knows that homegrown food is tastier. In our Urban Farm to Table Camp, we will get our hands dirty by spending part of the day tending the garden and learning how to grow herbs and vegetables, and the other part turning fresh harvested ingredients into delicious snacks and meals.  There is an emphasis on creation and imagination each day with time dedicated to crafts and nature arts.  This can be anything from creating a lettuce seed ball to making beautiful gardening journals for each child to take notes and bring home at the end of the session.  From roots to fruits to compost, campers learn where their food comes from and why it matters, how freshly harvested ingredients can be showcased in a simple and tasty way…having a lot of fun in the process.
