MARCH EDIBLE GARDEN COURSE: 4-5pm Tuesdays in March
We all know that a freshly picked vegetable right from the garden tastes amazing, provides better nutrition and give us a sense of accomplishment like few other things. However, getting your own vegetable and herbs started can be intimidating.
The Edible Lab’s Edible Garden Workshop is a 5 week, 60 minute hands-on experience that will guide your child through planting microgreens, vegetables and herbs from seeds in the comfort of your home over zoom. This interactive course will allow your child to gain the confidence they needs to grow edible plants from seeds.
We will also be making curriculum connections about what plants need to grow and how to take care of our seedlings to have a successful edible garden.
Week 1 starts off with growing a variety of tomatoes and the herbs that make them grow better called companion plants.
Week 2 will focus on planting some popular herbs that are started indoors and can be transplanted outside in the spring like pink celery and rhubarb.
Week 3 we will be starting seedlings for our Stir-fry Garden including sugar snap peas, baby bok choy, chinese cabbage and scallions. This is a great to get your child interested in cooking as well.
Week 4 The class will focus on planting Glorious Greens like Collards, Spinach and Curly Kale.
Week 5 The last class is called Splendid Salads and focuses on a rainbow of lettuces and edible flowers started indoors.
